Manila, 14th March 2024: U.S. President, Joe Biden’s commitment to strengthening United States -Philippines economic ties is now showing colour. United States’ Presidential Trade and Investment Mission (P.T.I.M.) to the Philippines on March 11 – 12, 2024 stood witness to incredible announcements concerning a range of partnerships and programs by Microsoft.
These initiatives are well aligned with the objectives of the Philippine Development Plan 2023 – 2028 wherein there’s a strong emphasis on aiding individuals and companies in leveraging AI.
Furthermore, Microsoft’s President of Global Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the Vice Chair and President, Mary Snapp disclosed the multinational giant’s aim of bridging the digital divide in the country by equipping more than 100,000 Filipino women with Cybersecurity & AI skills. In pursuit of realizing the above vision, Microsoft will be partnering with the Philippines’ Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Here’s the most interesting part! To take the learning curve to the next level, the training program will be coupled with a series of internal hackathons co-organized by Microsoft and the Philippines’ Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
